Portrait of a Small Landscape (book)

What happens when you try your best to look at a landscape? How does drawing influence the way you see? You might find yourself drawing a beautiful view, only to be disturbed by flies that get in the way, and beetles that decide to rest on your paper for a while. Portrait of a Small Landscape is a book about paying attention for the world around you by drawing what you see - even when it is small, scary, or slightly in the way.

The book was made as part of the Talent Development basic practice funding, from the Creative Industries Fund the Netherlands. It is based on drawings made on residencies in Cove Park (on the West coast of Scotland) and Fair Isle (a small and very remote Shetland Island) in 2024.

It was on show at Stimuleringsfonds Presents Talent (Dutch Design Week 2024), TENT bookshop (2025) and the group show ‘Don’t Forgot to Check In’ by CBK Rotterdam during Rotterdam Art Week (2026).

This book is available in my shop.
